Ariel Susman

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Central New Jersey (License #37PC00861300) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York (License #011369). I specialize in trauma-informed therapy and work with individuals who are navigating the lasting effects of trauma, difficult life experiences, anxiety, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that healing begins with feeling safe, understood, and supported. Trauma can affect far more than our memories—it can shape the way we see ourselves, experience relationships, respond to stress, and move through the world. Together, we can begin to understand those patterns without judgment and develop healthier, more effective ways of coping.
I take a trauma-informed, compassionate, and collaborative approach to treatment. I recognize that every person's experience with trauma is different, and I believe therapy should be tailored to your individual needs, strengths, and goals. My role is not to tell you how to heal, but to walk alongside you as you develop the insight, skills, and resilience needed to move forward.
I believe deeply in the human capacity for resilience. Healing from trauma does not mean forgetting what happened or pretending it did not affect you. It means developing a greater sense of safety, reconnecting with yourself, understanding your experiences, and discovering that your past does not have to define your future.
Whether you are struggling with the effects of a recent experience or carrying the impact of trauma from many years ago, therapy can be a place to begin healing. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, build on your strengths, and move toward a life that feels more grounded, connected, and authentically yours.
01.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a space to slow down, feel supported, and make sense of the experiences that may be affecting your life. Through one-on-one therapy, we work together to better understand your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns while building practical tools to help you move forward.
02.
Relationships can be a source of connection, support, and joy, but they can also bring challenges that feel difficult to navigate on your own. Couples counseling provides a safe, supportive space for partners to slow down, understand one another, and work through the patterns that may be creating distance or conflict.
03.
Family relationships can be deeply meaningful, but they can also become complicated when communication breaks down, conflict continues, or family members are struggling with change, stress, or difficult experiences. Family counseling provides a supportive and nonjudgmental space to better understand one another, strengthen relationships, and work through challenges together.
04.
Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision is an important part of developing as a confident, ethical, and effective mental health professional. I provide supportive and collaborative supervision for clinicians who are looking to strengthen their clinical skills, deepen their understanding of their clients, and grow into their own professional identity.
